Performance Health assessments

Performance and executive health assessments focusing on musculoskeletal optimisation and injury prevention.

Exercise prescription as a therapeutic tool for the treatment of chronic pain or diseases

Sports medicine doctors work collaboratively with your physiotherapist or Personal Trainer (PT) to provide personalised exercise programming bespoke to your musculoskeletal injury or condition.

Ultrasound guided joint and soft tissue injections

Our sports medicine doctor is trained in the use of Ultrasound guided joint and soft tissue injections in order to improve the accuracy of an injection and enhancing recovery.

Medication and supplementation review

Personalised medication and supplementation prescription in collaboration with our own endocrinologist and nutritionist.

Regenerative medicine consultations

Dr David Porter has a wealth of experience utilising the regenerative capabilities of treatments such as platelet rich plasma (PRP) and mesenchymal stem cell therapies from his time in elite sport and in private practice at Opus.

Professional sport pre-signing medical assessments

The Opus sports medicine team design, develop and implement pre-signing medical assessments for elite athletes during the transfer window enquiring the clubs from the UK and around the world are provided with critical player medical information before contract signing.

How can I access Opus' Sports Medicine services?

You can self refer or ask your GP, specialist, physiotherapist or personal trainer.

What's the process?
  1. A comprehensive assessment of your injury or condition will be conducted by Dr. Porter, including an examination and an ultrasound scan of the affected area.
  2. Potential investigations needed to confirm your diagnosis will be discussed, and you may be asked to undergo blood tests or imaging such as ultrasound, X-ray, CT, or MRI scans.
  3. Following the review of your diagnostic results, Dr. Porter will collaborate with you and our team to devise a management plan tailored to your personal goals and schedule.
  4. This management plan will be coordinated with your existing support network, including physiotherapists, osteopaths, nutritionists, and personal trainers, to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  5. Throughout your rehabilitation, your progress will be monitored, with Dr. Porter performing follow-up assessments and any necessary serial investigations in coordination with the Opus sports medicine team.
  6. If a referral to a specialist, such as an orthopaedic surgeon, becomes necessary, it will be arranged to ensure you receive comprehensive care.

PROGRAMME DETAILS

Initial Consultation with Dr. Porter

Review of medical, family, and medication history, full body examination, and goal discussion.

Baseline Blood Tests/DEXA Scan

Includes a full blood count, kidney and liver function tests, cholesterol levels, thyroid, iron, and vitamin profiles, plus a DEXA scan for a detailed breakdown of body composition.

Review Consultation

Analysis of test results and customisation of the programme to meet individual needs.

Functional Movement Assessment

Evaluates mobility, strength, and balance to create a personalised exercise programme.

Physiotherapy Sessions

Choose from a complete package (6 sessions) or an enhanced package (12 sessions), each offering physiotherapy-led strength, conditioning, or Pilates.

Nutritional Consultation

Additional Weekly Time Commitment

Nutrition has a huge impact on multiple body systems and requires an integrated approach with the other members of the Opus Performance team to optimise your performance and meet your body composition goals. Our nutrition team design bespoke nutrition plans to compliment your physical activity requirements.
