Dr. David Porter is an internationally renowned senior football and sports medicine physician specialising in all aspects of orthobiologics. David is one of the Founding Directors of Opus and is responsible for overseeing the clinical team and developing our stem cell service. David qualified from University College London Medical School and following training in emergency and intensive care medicine he was appointed to the post of Club Doctor at Chelsea FC in 2011 overseeing the care of academy and reserve team players.

During his time at Chelsea FC he studied Sports and Exercise Medicine at leading institutions both in the UK and Europe and served on the faculty of FA pitch side emergency medicine courses. Dr Porter was appointed to the role of Men’s First Team Doctor at Chelsea FC in the 2015/2016 season working daily with the team and all the staff at the training ground as well as travelling domestically and internationally to attend games and tours, working with the FA in the UK and UEFA and FIFA to ensure player wellness, safety and health.

As a strong advocate for a non-surgical approach to joint and muscle pathology Dr Porter has been able to translate the advances in this field to revolutionise our approach to medicine with novel therapies.

His work in the field of orthobiologics continues at Opus today, utilising the potential of therapies such as platelet rich plasma (PRP) and mesenchymal stem cells. Dr Porter has brought allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell therapy to the UK by working with the regulatory bodies to ensure patient safety and treatment success.

From his time at Chelsea FC Dr Porter provides a comprehensive medical assessment of each patients condition ranging from analysis of blood bio markers, imaging, performance testing alongside the musculoskeletal assessment to make sure that the patient receives a treatment plan tailored not only to their condition but to them as a whole.

Following an exceptional career at the highest level in professional football Dr. Porter has translated much of his elite sports medicine experience to a wider patient focus.

CONSULTANT ENDOCRINOLOGIST

Dr Rochan Agha-Jaffar is a Consultant Endocrinologist primarily based at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Rochan qualified from Nottingham University Medical School and, following completion of her specialty training in Endocrinology & Diabetes in North West London, she was appointed as a Consultant Endocrinologist in 2018.

Rochan’s specialist clinics include those addressing the management of thyroid disorders, thyroid cancer and general endocrinology conditions. These include adrenal and pituitary disorders and disorders of male and female hormone metabolism. In addition, Rochan has started a service for women with diabetes & endocrinology disorders planning pregnancy and is heavily involved in the provision of care for these women during their pregnancies. She is a member of the Thyroid Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team and is one of the co-leads for the Diabetes-Antenatal Service at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Rochan has a strong background in research and academia having completed her PhD at Imperial College London. She continues to publish in fields related to her specialist interests and has received both National and International prizes for her work. Accordingly Rochan is regularly invited to speak at Conferences regarding thyroid disorders, metabolism and the management of diabetes in pregnancy.

More recently, Rochan has been delighted to join Opus to provide input for anyone wishing to explore the impact of their hormones & metabolism on their overall health.

Laura joined the medical world and Opus in 2021 after spending 16 years in the travel industry where she honed her listening and communication skills, learnt the importance of a focus on attention to detail and developed a passion for delivering a great customer experience.

After starting in the Accounts Team, Laura become Practice Manager in 2022. She is responsible for ensuring that Opus patients receive the highest level of service throughout their journey with us, whether they attend the clinic just once or multiple times. Laura is forever striving to make improvements to the back-office processes, making sure patients get the service they deserve alongside the amazing healthcare they will be provided with by our team of experts.
